Week Two - Business Model Canvas
Hi everyone,
I hope you got some good stuff out of the session yesterday and you're seeing how the Business Model Canvas can be helpful for your business. Creating a Business Model Canvas gives you the starting point for a full business plan and it's intended to change over time. So as you learn more about your business, you'll adjust your Canvas accordingly. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Here are the two videos we watched about the Business Model Canvas:
No Business Plan Survives First Contact With Customers
Business Model Canvas Explained
You’ll find the following buttons below:

A large canvas you can have printed and hang on your wall (this is fun to use with colorful sticky notes!)
Homework:
1. Please work on your Business Model Canvas so we can check in about it next week.
2. Write the first (or next) draft of your Value Proposition. Here’s a link with more info about what they are. And below is the “fill-in-the-blank” template. It’s a great way to start by filling in the blanks and then reworking it to flow more easily. Let’s plan to share our value propositions at the beginning of next week’s session…Also, here’s an article I found about having more than one value proposition. This might be fitting for some of you.
“I help people who are struggling with _________ by offering _________ and my service/product is unlike any others because ________.”
3. Try your 30-second pitch with another person at home.
Reminders:
Don't forget that you need to have your first Business Boost meeting done by 3/23. This could include looking at your Business Model Canvas together, talking about your target customer, your elevator pitch, market research, etc. Please email me (sheena@candokalamazoo.org) ASAP to schedule your first 1:1 meeting with the Can-Do Team!
Food businesses - If you haven’t already, please see my email about Food Handler’s Certification and send me a copy ASAP. You need this in order to use the commercial kitchen to bring samples to share.
I’ll be out of the office next week and you’ll be with Ken and Jarrett at Camp.
Next Week:
Marketing Part 1 -Come prepared with the above homework completed.
See you soon!
Sheena
