Chonita Peterson

Collection:

  1. “African Elegance” $250

  2. “Vibrant Thang” $1,000

  3. “Natural Beauty” $400

About the Artist:

I started drawing at a young age, but I didn't start to paint until my early 20's, that's when I discovered my love of painting. I love to paint what I am feeling at the moment, or something that has been on my mind. If I have an idea, no matter what time day or night, I have to stop what I'm doing and sketch the idea. I am inspired by being an African American woman, and life in general. Pain, love, anger, joy, sadness, pride, I leave it all there on the canvas, its my way of truly conveying who I am. If someone really wants to know me, look into my paintings.

McKenna Saunders

Collection:

  1. “Fruits and Vegetables” $500

  2. “Onions and Slugs” $150

About the Artist:

These vegetable paintings are a larger version of the things I enjoy doodling in my margins. To make them, I paint a swirling underlayer of color. Then, from these colors I imagine the outlines of fruits and vegetables, and carve them out with black paint using a subtractive process. Once I am only left with the fruit and vegetable motifs, I outline until I’m ready to stop. The end result is something that is colorful and fun to look at. I imagine sitting and staring at it while eating cereal in the morning.

Jennifer Gatz

Collection:

  1. “Sunset Swim” $190

  2. “Understory” $190

About the Artist:

I enjoy arranging things. Always have. Furniture in a dollhouse, junk in a drawer, words on a page. Surprisingly, my approach to collage is not organized or predictable. Starting with a word or image for inspiration, I select, cut, arrange and paste found materials to create something new. It’s an intuitive process of responding directly to the materials. My work is about composition, color and the relationship of images that come together to offer a story or capture a mood. Through collage, I share about the power of transformation - seeing the possibility in discarded objects, recognizing potential in the unexpected and bringing these elements together with a fresh perspective to give them new life. Sharing my art allows me to communicate across language barriers and engage in a visual conversation that builds relationships and makes connections. I create to inspire a viewer to open a door, travel a path of discovery and enter another world.
